I think the Easter tour 2001 will be known as the "Foot and mouth" tour. Indeed, it was considered whether it should go ahead at all, yet be took our chances and drove to the middle of blinking nowhere, or more precisely a village in Yorkshire called Levisham. The landlord in the pub was rather pleased to have us in the area, and the rather fine Old Peculiar (which some enjoyed rather too much) meant we forgave him for running out of Profiteroles. The ringing was rather uneventful, despite a near lock out at at least two towers, including Scarborough who let us ring into lunchtime to make up for the late start. Lunch at scarborough was particularly memorable, and being one to try out local traditions I especially enjoyed the pie and peas. Lunch was followed by a game of darts and then more ringing, and the catering officers cooked a rather fine chilli in the hall in the evening, even if I do say so myself.
Advise to future Masters: Don't also be catering officer.
